What is True Colours?
True Colours started because there was a need. After graduating from a special school, young people often have no place to socialise with their friends while still engaging in learning activities. The mother of one of these graduates reached out to me about forming a class to reunite her and her old classmates. Thus True Colours was created.
Our inclusive classes are designed to empower young adults with disabilities and high functional needs. Together they laugh, learn, and create. Their talents shine bright! Their creativity and skills are showcased in an exhibition twice a year.

Us In Action

I'm Patrice and I am the Art Teacher of these amazing students, curator of the exhibitions and of this website.

I am a highschool Art Teacher by trade. I left mainstream teaching in 2021 to take care of my youngest daughter who also has special needs. I have four adult children and numerous pets. I love all things colour, abstract art, looking at the water and travel!

Teaching these young people brings me so much joy. I love seeing them learn, create and succeed. Their exhibitions are truly amazing. Our time together each week is filled with laughter, joy, creativity and friendship.
